Suggestions on cutting my own bangs?

I have emo hair and its getting long, its been about 6 months since my last haircut. Since then I've realized I can cut hair, I've cut my mom's hair, layered it and colored it, and she loves it. So I want to cut my own hair now, and since its summer I figured what better time to do it. So I have questions on cutting my bangs and the back of my hair ( I want a whole lot of layers!) which I can't see. I already have an Idea on how I want to cut my bangs and how I'm going to do it but I would like to hear if anyone has any advice before I go through with it, any suggestions?

Pull the top of your hair up and cut it at the length you want on top then flip your head upside down and cut the remaining hair at the same point you cut the top when you flip back up your hair should fall into perfect layers. then gather your bang area together and twist them and cut them in the middle of your forehead just below your eye's that will give you graduated bangs that frame your face. i would suggest you not do it on your own. you might cut it and you may think it looks uneven and then keep cutting to get it even. i personally would have someone with me to make sure i've got it straight. or maybe you could get some pictures and take them to a salon and have a professional do it. good luck

Cut it dry! If you cut it wet, you will most likely cut it too short as your hair is longer when it's wet :)

Honestly, you will never know if you can, until you try. Have a friend standing by to watch from behind and go very slowly. If you screw something up, STOP, and seek a sylist immediately. Don't keep trying to fix it... it will only get worse. Good luck, it would be an awesome talent to have.
