Some of my friends are turning on me just cuz im emo!?

I've been Emo for about 3 years. No one has really cared.

My friends were not bothering, but then about 1 month ago i was allowed red highlights in my hair and now 4 of my friends have turned on me. I dont think they realised i was emo but now they think its uncool to hang around with emos. Three of the girls said to my face they wanna be friends with me and whenever i see them they always mouth "sorry"! But i dont see why one of the girls won't let them, she was always a bossy ***** that no one could stand up to... should i stand up to her? or should i just leave it??????????????

i would seriously question the friendship and the loyalty.

people should be friends with whoever they want to be friends with. and not judge, especially because of how someone dresses or acts.

i would stand up to them. if you don't this will continue to bother you.

and don't worry real friends will come along that will accept you no matter what.

Maybe they feel like you're the type of person who changes their whole personality every time a new trend emerges. 1 friend may be wrong, 2 friends maybe.. but more then that you should probably try and see things from their perspective so that you can understand where they are coming from.

Stand up to her and tell her NOT to make decisions for everybody else. and if some of your friends dont want to be friends with you just because your "emo" then they arnt real friends anyway.

Personally i think u should be calm about it and write her a note or something since she won't talk to ur face like a mature person and say- Hey what is up? I know u don't like the fact that i'm a lil emo. But that's just the style i like right now. I'm still the same person i have always been. But i miss hanging out with all u guys. So tell me the truth wats wrong? I don't know how it will play out but at least u can say u stood up for urself and didn't allow urself to be walked all over. Hope this helps!

They're not your true friends if they're judging you on something as trivial and shallow as hair and clothes. If they can't see past that, they're not worth your time. Talk about shallow!

I've had 'friends' that have done that and I think that anyone that is going to treat you differently because of how you look and dress is thick as s**t and not worth your time. In general emo is seen as a negative stereotype and people think it makes them look good to be completely against it. If you discriminate against someone because they are another religion it is seen as completly inappropriate and wrong, but if you do it to an emo it's 'funny'. Don't worry about friends that are fickle, just worry about your real friends that couldn't care less about what you look like and like you for who you are.
