What is the diff. between emo and "scene"?

today i herd someone say that this kid wasnt emo he was scene and i did not get it at all.

like people say scene hair cuts and stuff like that

what exactly is "scene"?

i really have no idea.

is it like emo looking?

What is the diff. between emo and "scene"?

Emo

(Noun, Adjective) - A word of many uses, emo generally describes:

A) A genre of music

B) Style of fasion

C) Lifestyle/subculture

(NOTE - The following may be just slightly biased)

Emo music (short for Emocore or Emotional Hardcore) is a derivitive of the mid 80's hardcore scene. Born in Washington D.C., early emo was a mix of hardcore punk with both emotional lyrics and performances, dominated by bands such as "Rites Of Spring" and "Embrace". By the late 90's, most original emo bands had disbanded or changed direction. From 2000 onwards, many bands have unwillingly or unrightfully been labled as emo, such as "Dashboard Confessional" and "Taking Back Sunday". Many "classic" emo fans and outsiders view modern emo music as warterd-down punk rock.

Emo fasion or "the emo look" has a number of simple characteristics. For males, hair should be black (although dark red/brown is acceptable), greassy, have a long fringe and a bang covering one eye. For females, although dark hair is prefered, any colour is acceptable. While hair may be cleaner, it must still cover a large portion of the face. Black shirts and jackets are worn, although on rare occasions an emo may wear a grey or white hoodie. Jeans are the clothing of choice for the emo, although for males anything out of their sisters closet is fine. Footware is typically any sort of skating shoe. To complete the look, apply excessive amounts of eyeshadow (males and females), put on a pair of black horned glasses and start listening to your eyepod.

Emo culture, dominated by middle to upper class suburban white teenagers, is characterised by weak music, self loathing and melodrama. After listening to some emo music (generally, but not always shite), emo-boy will log onto myspace to talk to his emo friends. After blogging about how **** life is, how he ******* hates his parents, and how the whole world hates him, he'll have a look at emo-girls myspace page. A quick look at the 17,000 photos she's uploaded (either of her looking into the distance, her looking up at the camera in a confused and drugfucked way or her at an emo gathering), emo-boy and emo-girl will chat to each other. The conversation quickly turns to how they are both alone and nobody understands them. Emo-boy has had enough of myspace (for a few minutes at least) and decides he is depressed. He writes a "deep and meaningfull" poem, before deciding to end it all. A quick slash of the wrists and it's time to sit in the dark and wait for the end to come. Unfortunately, he only drove the razor 2 milimetres into his skin, so there's a pretty good chance he'll be back at school next week, trying (not very hard) to hide his fresh scars and emotions.

Scene

"Scene" is a culture made mostly of teenagers and is relatable to emo. It is a culture derived to reject the "norm". Scene kids might often be quoted as saying "I hate people that arn't themselves" or "I dress this way because this is who I am!". Ironically, there has become a set mold which scene kids seemingly strive to fit, and they all look/act the same.

"Scene" guys often wear:

-Tight jeans

-tight t shirts, often from elementary school/middle school, or picked up from the local thrift store.

-tight blazers and jackets, even during a warm summer.

-Long, greesy hair, cut and dyed at home, with bangs that cover 1/2 of a "scene" guy's face at a 45 degree angle.

"Scene" girls often wear:

-Bright colored makeup

-Short, choppy hair, usually thicker on one side, and containing 2+ colors.

Scene kids are almost required to own a myspace page. Here, they will network with hundreds of other scene kids, post dozens of pictures of themselves (from different, crazy angles and more often than not, incorporating a bathroom mirror), and write blogs about pointless teenage drama which nobody else truly cares about.

What is the diff. between emo and "scene"?

Scene = the style.

Emo = the music.

I think..

What is the diff. between emo and "scene"?

well emo is spelt e-m-o and scene is spelt s-c-e-n-e. hope that clears things up for ya!

What is the diff. between emo and "scene"?

My guess....is that it's 'what's hot' as of now. Like the hottest fashion, hairstyle, etc.

What is the diff. between emo and "scene"?

People listen to emo music and they can be called emo but they dress scene.

What is the diff. between emo and "scene"?

its hard to explain. emo is more dark, scene is like emo, only more bright and annoying. both of them are equally horrible, though.

What is the diff. between emo and "scene"?

well you prob. know what emo is already but emo (emotional) kids cut themselves and are usually depressed ect.

scene kids don't cut themselves but do dress in the style that emo kids do. they wear skinny genes, convers..ect. they also are happy and like rainbow colors. lol.it's true though.

What is the diff. between emo and "scene"?

Their both essentially the same thing, except scene kids don't cut their wrists as much, so they came up with a different catagory for themselves so they could pretend that they're any better than the emo kids.

What is the diff. between emo and "scene"?

It's kinda like emo, but without the black and "Hardcore-ness". They'd probably remind you of hippies. (I think.)

Also, Ignore Joie, I don't think she's in tune with popular culture these days.

What is the diff. between emo and "scene"?

scene is when ppl dress in like emo cloths but they don't look as hard core as emos and they don't listen to emo music and they are emotional ppl who like to slit their wrists emo do all that stuff.

What is the diff. between emo and "scene"?

i think the emo kids are the ones who sit in the corner and cry while they cut themselves and scene just like the clothing style but dont cry when they cut. either way they all suck monkey butt

What is the diff. between emo and "scene"?

scene kid- somebody who joins a fad because it is a fad. emo-means that they are the kids who go around feeling sorry for themselves.

and their you go

What is the diff. between emo and "scene"?

scene is a hairstyle. its sumwat nappyish looking.

What is the diff. between emo and "scene"?

WHO CARES!!! Quit trying to classify people and worry about important things in life.
