My hair needs a change!?

Ive had longer hair all of my life, id like to get it cut. i like the look people are getting nowadays with the sideswept bangs and scene/emo looks but i dont want to go as short as my chin...i was thinking maybe keep the length even with the base of my neck and lots of layers..what about bangs?.any advice? heres a picture of me, my hairs tied back but its past my shoulder blades in length.

I have my hair like that! What you need to do is...get it cut to around lips lenght. If you go to the hair salon and they ask you what way do you part your hair, you say on the side. and if the say what side you say the "right" side. And it should come out looking perfect!

Long hair can often look tired and boring (speaking from experience) :) I had a sweeping fringe put in and it just makes it look a bit tidier!

Also, layers are cool! Lots of layers would look good in your hair, its the right length for them

Try it out, if you dont like it, it will always grow back!!
