What does teasing ur hair mean????????

i know thats a stupid question but i have an emo haircut and i need volume, everyone tells me to tease my hair but i dont know what that is

What does teasing ur hair mean????????

It means to back-comb your hair, which means repeatedly combing the hair towards the scalp, causing the hair to tangle and knot up.

What does teasing ur hair mean????????

go on youtube and type in teasing hair. it looks great!! you should relly do it. i am.....

What does teasing ur hair mean????????

It means like playing around with it until you like it =]

Lots of LOVE%26lt;3 x

What does teasing ur hair mean????????

Teasing your hair is when you hold it straight up, take your brush or comb and at the roots you move the comb up and down really fast through your hair. It fluffs it up a little. I would try some volumizing hair product and use a round brush when you dry it instead.

What does teasing ur hair mean????????

It means to create volume underneath the hair, by combing the hair so it doesn't lay flat on your head.

What does teasing ur hair mean????????

It means to put something sexy on, light some candles, dim the lights, and start pole dancing for your hair. Works wonder if you want it to stand up without gel....keep dancing and you might get some hair gel *wink wink*

Go to www.google.com and type in the search string "How to tease hair" and then click on GO. I just did that, and I got 893,000 hits or links that claim to be able to teach me how to do that. But I don't need to read the information at the links because I already know how to do it. I was a hair stylist for a number of years.

I've already explained how it's done to another person two weeks ago and she gave me best answer for the explanation. I'm going to try to find my answer, copy it, and paste it here for you.

Well, here it is. Hope you find it helpful:

Teaching someone how to style their hair through the use of only the written word is almost as difficult as teaching someone how to ride a bike, swim, or tie their shoe laces using only the written word. It's a tough writing assignment.

You may need to find someone to first teach you how to tease hair which amounts to matting it firmly against the scalp. Then you need someone to show you how to lightly and repeatedly run a comb over the matted hair so that the outer-most layer of it is eventually smooth and natural looking.

Both steps, the teasing (or matting) and the light combing (or smoothing out of the outer layer of the matted hair) requires practice. You are taught how to do this in hair styling classes. It's my understanding that such classes are given at high schools now. They are referred to as Cosmetology classes. You may want to look into it. Or ask a talented student or hair dresser to show you how it's done.

In spite of the difficulty involved in explaining each (teasing and combing out), I'll give it my best shot:

TEASING:

Buy a rat-tail comb. It's cheap. Most likely won't cost more than a dollar or so. It's a special comb used by hairdressers. Well, maybe some of the old-time hairdressers. The comb is usually about 8 inches long with teeth that are about an inch tall. Half of the comb has teeth, and the other half doesn't. The half that doesn't have teeth, narrows down to a point, and, I guess, that part of the comb looks a little like a rat tail. That, I assume, is why it' referred to as a rat-tail comb. This tail of the comb is used to poke into matted hair to help move it a little one way or another to help balance out a poofed up hair style. I'm confident that a talented and experienced hair stylist can poof hair, and balance out the hair style without a rat-tail comb, but for a novice, that rat tail is very helpful and nice to have, and even later when you become more experienced.

Decide what part of the scalp you want to look poofy. Let say you decide on the entire top of the scalp. From the center front outer edge of that part of the scalp, section off a small portion of hair with your comb. And by small portion, I mean about one inch or so wide by about a quarter inch or so thick, but no thicker than the depth of the comb's teeth. The smaller the section, the more control you'll have over the density and strength of the teasing or matting. The teasing can be rock solid against the scalp or quite loose and airy depending on what your styling goals are. Incidentally, the teasing or matting can be easily undone by gently combing over it with a comb and slowly working your way down toward the scalp until it's all untangled.

Finally, we reach the part where you actually tease the hair. You do that by holding up the section of hair with one hand, and using your other hand to stick the teeth of the comb into the section of hair (at about a couple inches up from the base of the scalp) and comb down toward the base of the scalp. Do that repeatedly until you have created a solidly tangled mass. Then grab another section of hair and hold it against and together with the original section of hair and repeat the teasing process. This will cause the second section of teased hair to tend to be attached to the original section and give the total clump a more solid base that won't tend to allow the poofy look of the hair style to later flop around from side to side. Continue like this until you've teased or matted as much hair as you think needs to be poofed up. If at any time, you feel that your poof base isn't solid enough, just undo the portions that aren't to your satisfaction and redo them. As a beginner, I wouldn't be too concerned about perfection. Just go at it, and see how you make out. Learn from your mistakes. Remember that hairstyling is part science and part art. So you need to practice, practice, practice. Doing this on someone else who will allow you to use her as model will give you much insight into what to do to have a solid handle on poofed hair dos.

COMB-OUT

Once you have the teasing down, all you have to do next is lightly comb over the teased or matted hair until you have the outer most layer of the matted hair so that it looks smooth and natural. It takes practice. Don't get discouraged. And doing it on yourself is more difficult than doing it on someone else. Maybe you can team up with a friend. Once the outer layer is smooth and natural looking, then you need to check it out for balance. You don't want it to look lopsided. If it does, then sticking the tail of your rat-tail comb into the matting and pulling a little one way or the other should do the trick. If not, sometimes just lightly combing a litle more of the outer layer of the hair on one side of the hairdo or another can balance things out very nicely. Finally, if the style stays in place (doesn't flop around) you've done a good job. If it tends to flop around, your teasing or matting isn't solid enough gainst the scalp. Just start over. Don't be discouraged. This takes practice. Eventually, it'll be easy and you'll wonder why you thought this was difficult initially.

One last comment. The teasing requires careful combing for poofy short hairstyles, but for poofy longer hair styles, the combing is easy because the longer ends of the hair haven't been teased and just flow naturally over the teased base of the hair.

Go for it, and good luck.
